even though i like xanga so much better, and i have uber-security settings on it, i am going to post here. i'm on break from xanga.

funny how when i decide to take a break, tons of stuff happens. so if you are bored, read on!

went to some halloween parties this past weekend. on friday, i met a guy who looked a LOT like kyle housen. it was freaky. you KNOW its true because sean came up to me about two hours later saying, "doesn't that guy look like housen?" got to know a handful of people from the music dept. ran into some coworkers at the bar afterwards, which isn't too unusual considering the size of ellensburg. friday night was a halloween concert at school. it was so much fun- even the directors of the orchestra and choir dressed up and had a light saber fight during star wars. good times here in eburg. saturday night was a house party- reminded me of that party at USC a few years ago at the RO house. not sure if any of you know what i'm talking about...

i had to open at work on monday morning (esp. after working sunday night) and my car doors were frozen shut! SHUT! i was late to work prying my doors open! i heard that it was 16 degrees outside... that's below freakin freezing!! aie!

some days are harder than others to get myself out of bed and move on with life. most mornings i start my day with a "fuck you joseph!" and that helps. that gets me going when its freezing and i have work at 4:30am.

its funny how people up here stereotype californians. "oh she's from california, she's never seen snow." um, i was born in chicago... or "you see snow tires are tires that have little beads on them..." yada yada yada... most of these are really funny.

the docs found a cyst in my sister lea's backside about a week ago. they had to put her in surgery and remove it shortly after. she was scared, but she's doing okay now. not 100% but she's getting there. i get to see my family at christmas time! yay! i am excited for an old school ohrstrom road trip, minus my older brother. he's going to be flying i think. anyways.

i'm going to be back in socal next weekend. a nice change in climate! dang. i miss living in california. well, i miss my friends and such. i don't miss smog or horrible parking or being broke all the time. or whatshisface. ya know, things that just come with the territory.

well see you guys soon! i have some hw to do : ( then off to bed. i work the strangest hours, so my sleep patterns are further off than usual. bye friends!

until about 10 minutes ago, i completely forgot i had a LJ... i don't even remember the last time i checked it.

anyways, here's a very nutshell-ed update:

1. i live in ellensburg, washington now
2. i still work for starbucks
3. i bought a car all by myself and paid cash for it! 2002 mitsubishi galant.
4. my cat stella is here with me
5. i felt homesick for the first time in my LIFE a few weeks ago
6. sean simpson (kevin simpson's cousin to you UHS peeps)is here at school with me
7. no, i haven't killed him yet (surprisingly)
8. my settlement check came in august (ca-ching!)
9. jason mraz is my anti-drug
10. i am learning to play guitar

i think i am going to be up here for three years... yeah, sounds about right. i miss living in socal!!

well, sorta.

after being super-sick for almost two weeks, i went to the doctor a week ago and found out i had both throat and sinus infections. eeew!!! AND i don't really feel better other than my voice coming back. I still cough up phlegm (sp?), have a sore throat, and have body aches (particularly in the morning and after working). Doc says I should be better by the end of this week.

chamber festival tomorrow... nuff said.

well things are starting to look up. they have really been down in the dumps the past few weeks, but i have been lucky enough to have some great support getting through it all. looks like i will be back on my feet around thanksgiving-time. speaking of which, i don't know whether or not i am going to texas yet... hmm... i should probably find out! anyways, in general life is good. i am alive and in love, in good health, and i have god in my heart. i think i am doing well : )

my family is going to be hit by the hurricane this weekend.

they can't evacuate because they don't have enough gas in any of their cars to get out of town. the gas stations are out of gas, because trucks can't get in to refill the stations. traffic is really bad anyways. their neighbors left at 3am, and came back home at 1am because they had only travelled 30 miles in 10 hours. stores are closed, banks are closed, school is closed. my family has enough food to last a few days because everything shut down so fast. they have set up camp in their home. this scares the living crap out of me.

however, the hurricane seems to have shifted its path slightly, and will probably follow an eastern path and my family should only have heavy winds and flooding. sigh. i am praying for their safety. i feel so helpless... there really isn't anything else i can do to help them.

ok after a long, greuling drive i am finally in texas once again... the drive was brutal because we left at 1am because my sister doesn't know much about road tripping apparently. i drove the first 8 hours with the two of them sleeping! (lea and her friend bria) then lea drove for four hours, (and managed to backtrack us by getting on the 10W too), and bria drove for 3 and a half before getting pulled over for speeding. so i drove the last 6 hours of the trip... aie aie. i am ready to sleep! trip was actually fun, despite formentioned commentary. a few good laughs and stories were there, too. just a very long day, and it seriously feels like i was just here yesterday... ok nighty night!

i'm going up to concord for the weekend to see blue devils.... i am soo excited! i may not be able to march, but i know i will still be all sentimental just to be at the show. my dad fed-ex'ed my corps jacket to me today, too. i miss marching so much... sigh. good to go back.

home, sweet home. and i have caught the bug! i hate being sick! it's frustrating, but i should be better soon. went to wango tango last night with my friend christina as a welcome home gift. i actually had a bit of fun- it would have been better if i wasn't feeling sick to my stomach, coughing, and had a pounding headache the entire time, though. saw some very entertaining performances from ciara, kelly clarkson, ryan cabrera, will smith, gwen stefani, ludacris (didn't realize i actually know some of his songs), and the black eyed peas. lindsey lohan was terrible, as was some girl named natalie who i had never heard of before. oh yeah and jennifer lopez was there, and even though i don't like her or her music, i have to admit the dancing was cool. put a down payment on several bottles of watter, also.

bah, i am going to lay down some more, i really don't feel very well... boo!

well i am back in socal... hurrah! so good to be back home. just getting back in to the swing of things. some things i have to deal with soon, and i really don't want to, but alas some things are just inevitable, right? i think i will feel a lot better when summer comes around. both mentally and physically. i should be fully recovered in about a month or so.

ok, i delayed lj post....hahaha.

so on easter my family went to the norwegian church in south houston, and sat through the entire service in norwegian. the church even had a little shop, which is GREAT because its so hard to find norwegian candy in the US. i LOVE norwegian chocolate!!!! you dont understand!!!! lol, so anyways. my sister and i are raiding the candy at the store, and we come across jelly ladies:

so my sister and i pay $8 for this bag of jelly ladies to see if they really have boobs, and they do! we bought large-breasted jellies at CHURCH!!!

and because i have too much time on my hands, i made a "jenny Øhrstrøm jelly lady" for your enjoyment:
